My name is John Wickens,my wife Paula used to run the Variety store in
Woomera.
We would like to hear from anyone who remembers us.
I was trying to locate Stan Jonutis,he was a USAF officer in charge of
CE out at the site.

Hi,
My name is John Wickens,We first went to Woomera in 1967,arriving in
March.I remember going swimming on Anzac Day,much to the consternation
of the locals,(the pool closed the very next day)."Mad Pom" was the
comment I heard.
My first job was at Evetts Field with the Target Aircraft
Group,employed by Short Bros. & Harland,I was an Auto Pilot Tech.

Hi, I was thrilled to find you site and I was hoping I may find someone who can help with some research I am doing. I would be very interested to know what sort of vehicles and motorcycles the military was using and what colors they were painted, particularly between 1955 and 1970. Would there be anyone out there that would know these things? If so I would love to talk with you.

I worked on the AN-FPS 16 radars from 62 to 66 with the AWA crew,
ultimately as team leader. Two of our sons were born in Woomera.
Recently I've been writing up some notes on the radars, which will. in
due course, appear on Colin Mackellar's 'Honeysuckle Creek site
through its link to "Other Stations."

posted me to Woomera, to No1 Air Target Aircraft Squadron, where, as a

An update on my family

I am very sad to say that our dear mother, Mollie, passed away on
January 5th 2009.

She had not been well for some time but we had high hopes.
Unfortunately, she had to be admitted to hospital just before New
Years and while there, her condition took a downward turn and she
passed away peacefully. We all had the chance to be with Mum during

34. My family moved to Woomera in July 1967 until October 1969. My

On one of the senior staff mess menus that used to be on display in the old Woomera Heritage Centre, there was a list of cocktails, which included such mysterious delights as:
Woomera Cocktail
Roxby Rocket
Kooly Crazy
Wirramina Wish
Purple Downs Push-Over
Pimba Slide.
Does anyone remember what was in them? I'd love to recreate one ....

I enjoyed re-visiting Woomera for the first time for the 60th
anniversary Reunion. I met Mark and told him how much I appreciated
the work he has done in setting up the "Woomera on the Web" site.
