    Gday everybody

One day when I first started using the computer, I googled
Woomera, as you do, and found this site. I loved reading the Memories
and scanned them all to see if there was any mention of our family.
Didn't see any, so here is my story.

My name is Gail Jury, nee Stapleton. I was born in Woomera in
1963, my older brother was born in '59. I think the family moved there
in about 1957ish. My parents names are Harry and Mollie. Dad passed
away in 2004, but Mum is still with us. I was the youngest of six
kids, all of whom went through Woomera Area School, four older
sisters, my brother and me. My sisters were all into netball and dad
was President of the Works Footy Team.

We left in 1969 when I was six, so I really don't have many
memories myself and most of what I know of Woomera is anecdotal. My
mother, step-father Bill Mole and I went back for a visit in about
1979, and already things had changed a lot. I would love to go back
again even though my memories are dim.

You can take the girl out of Woomera, but you can't take Woomera
out of the girl!

Would love to hear more memories of 'the old days' so I hope
people start posting again.

    Bye for now
    Gail Jury (nee Stapleton)
