I don't trust or value Chomsky because he has espoused hard left
ideology in the past.
And he suffers because of it.

Things started to move in the wrong direction around 1985...
That's when a new corporate and governmental attitude of blatant
exploitation became noticeable...
Leveraged buy-outs, the savings-and-loan scam, illegal alien amnesty,
the Iran-Contra scandal, and the first major offshoring of jobs took
place during that period. Life long employees became short term
'associates', and customers became 'consumers'.

It was also the period when  the monopolization of media began.
Compare the general honesty of media sources of the mid-80s to what
exists today.

It is the control of the current popular (not informed) media that has
allowed a few dishonest puppet masters to be able to lead an entire
country into the swamps.
