I wish him luck. I read what they did to a woman (one volunteer) and the study was done wrong. Nutt should never have mentioned Ecstasy or LSD because those are where he shot himself in the foot. My daughter was slipped some Ecstasy and did *not* like it, maybe because some guys in this area use it as a date rape drug. LSD was really the wrong thing to mention. At maybe a 1/4 dose of LSD, not the shit some people try to sell. 1/4 dose makes me very alert with overtones of things I would never otherwise notice, but more than that makes things weird. I have never tried Ecstasy and never will so I don't know about that one, but my daughter and older stepdaughter both say it is bad shit. McNutt needs to know when to shut up. A full dose (or more) of LSD is not safe to a fragile mind. Ecstasy is not safe for any mind.

To be fair neither she nor you have any idea what the hell it was, prohibition to thank a very great deal for that though.

How can she be certain that it was ecstasy?
That's one of the very big problems caused by prohibition. The person taking the drug can never be certain that it is the drug s/he wanted and paid for. IIUC a very high percentage of the substances sold in clubs as illegal drugs are in fact home-made concoctions that do not contain any illegal substances at all (though they may contain legal things that are not very good for you, such as drain cleaner and rat poison, because the seller want it to provoke *some* sort of reaction).

Well I don't think it was his intention to show that side of drug use or by extension its use in date rape but as its components, its lethality, etc... I'm sorry someone slipped a drug to her, its awful that someone would do that for any reason. But these days it seems just as easy to find a drunk girl to bring home. I'm petty sure, from my limited knowledge of drugs, that lsd and estasy have less "contaminates" are are not made by rat poison, cough medicine or drain cleaner.
He also seems very concerned that all drugs who are legalized are controlled and tested/studied. Another good thing I've learnt from him recently is he is not someone who takes the studies at face value and takes a very controlled look at the subject before he addresses it publicly.

While it's true that drug prohibition makes it impossible to know what you're taking, I don't think it's realistic to expect that a date rapist is going to show his victim the ingredient list of the drug he gave her.
Drug prohibition cannot be blamed for sexual predators, and sadly the existence of such people is a counter-argument that it might be a really good idea to have legal barriers to try to keep drugs out of their hands.

"Date-rape drink spiking 'an urban legend' Widespread spiking of drinks with date-rape drugs such as Rohypnol and GHB is an "urban legend" fuelled by young women unwilling to accept they have simply consumed too much alcohol, academics believe.
By Stephen Adams Published: 6:10AM GMT 27 Oct 2009 A study of more than 200 students revealed many wrongly blamed the effects of a "bad night out" on date-rape drugs, when they had just drunk excessively. Many are in "active denial" that drinking large amounts of alcohol can leave them "incoherent and incapacitated", the Kent University researchers concluded. Young women's fears about date-rape drugs are so ingrained that students mistakenly think it is a more important factor in sexual assault than being drunk, taking drugs or walking alone at night. The study, published in the British Journal of Criminology, found three-quarters of students identified drink spiking as an important risk - more than alcohol or drugs. More than half said they knew someone whose drink had been spiked. But despite popular beliefs, police have found no evidence that rape victims are commonly drugged with such substances, the researchers said.
<SNIP>
Earlier this year, Australian researchers found that not one of 97 young men and women admitted to hospital over 19 months to two Perth hospital claiming to have had their drinks spiked, had in fact been drugged. "

wow. not a single of almost 100 people who beleived they were drugged weren't?! I'm sorry if there are some who have indeed been drugged but it seems there is alot of misinformation when it comes to any drug

It is a sad state of affairs, but if you want any truthful and reliable information about drugs you cannot rely on government and official sources. You will just get scare propaganda and total nonsense.
The sacking of David Nutt shows that the government is not interested in facts, it supresses those and sends propaganda "messages" designed to frighten people instead.

frightenly true from the limited experience I have. I got into a discussion tonight with someone who knows a cancer patient. She was pretty angry that I had brought it up. I know the person in question. I simply said "I don't know everything about it, but I know it should be legalized. At least for medical use." I probably said too much, I did say its known to help with pain and stomach issues, or help in chemo.. I kind of hope she'll bring it up to that person. It would, I beleive, help the quality of life.

Exactly why I will never accept anything from a *drug* dealer unless I know him and it is only weed with no chemicals added. That kind of thing has been going on since the 1960's when the dealers *stepped on it* to make it seem like really good stuff. Too bad it kills your brain, fast. Especially now...there's been a rash of crushed glass-spiked weed in major cities worldwide lately.
Apparrently, the idea is that in order to make more money, the dealers roll the buds and remove the trichomes, pressing them into hash, and then to make the buds appear as though they were fine, they sprinkle them with crushed glass that to the nake eye, appears the same as the naturally occurring trichomes which were removed. The dealer than sells the hash and the bugs and makes double the profit for zero added investment. Good for the dealer...bad for the customer.
It seems that these tiny crushed glass particles have a similar effect on the lungs as asbestos when they are smoked/inhaled. Nice dealers, huh?
Make it legal again and grow your own....STAY SAFE by controlling what you consume.

another good reason for controls and not mis-information. I hear stories like this and makes me very weary and scared that any human could do that.
I'll watch the video a bit later. First part I saw looked promising and I hope its something I can show one of the other people I mentioned. Sometimes a bit unsure about claims of health but its rather hard to turn a blind eye to someone who was sick or dying but is now healthy and alive.

Really sounds like a DEA fantasy. Terrorists might do something like that but not your friendly neighborhood dealer who needs your business to stay in business. After all the DEA triggered the home growing wave by spraying dangerous herbicide on pot fields in Mexico.
As a result the seeds from Columbian Gold started going into home gardens indoors and out.

I seriously doubt that drug dealers would ground up glass an put it in weed on purpose. Much easier to dilute it with oregano or any other cheap substitute.
What I think happend with 'grit weed' is this. When you use High Intenity Discharge (HID) lamps, they get very hot, and if you even spray a single drop of water or nutrients on them, they explode. I think one batch had a lamp explode over it and the pot wasn't thrown away.

That is one reason I refine my smoke, not just for 10x better smoke but also to filter out and impurities (like glass). Finally I run my solvent /mix through a coffee filter to make sure there is *nothing* in my smoke.

Solution; Find the dealer who do this and when 6 or more are found and obviously guilty, line them up against a wall and empty 6 Thompson machine guns into them. Do this on live TV, all channels, and the message would be "The penalty for *making* know harmful drugs.

I do or at least refine even the buds I sometimes get. Even the buds around here don't hold up to "Mexican Dirt Weed" from the 1970's. Yet the FDA is insisting the new stuff is too strong. ROTFLMAO!

That just makes me glad I don't live in a big city and don't buy there. With me temper I would be knocking on his door with at least 2 guns on my person. I'm mellow but some son of a bitch tries to ruin my health I will ruin his, permanently. I would call that a 'civil service'. Bill Baka

So you smoke through a coffee filter? like at the end of a bong or something? if so, do you find it easier to smoke (coughing, harshness)?
