BOSTON — A measure that would decriminalize minor marijuana-possession cases is on the ballot in Massachusetts largely because of one man: billionaire financier and liberal activist George Soros.

True conservatives also support lessened (in fact, eliminated) penalties for marijuana.

There's nary a word in Scripture about marijuana ... but there is this affirmation of moderate recreational substance use: "Wine was created from the beginning to make men joyful, and not to make them drunk." Ecclesiasticus 31:35

Whether or not cannabis is mentioned in Scripture is open to discussion as one of the major ingredients of the prescribed incense is kaneb bosem which some believe may be the veritable plant we discuss.
By inclusion it is approved below.
GENESIS 1; 11,12: And God said,"Let the earth burst forth with every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant." And so it was,and God was pleased. GENESIS 1; 29,31: "And look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth for your food." Then God looked over all that he had made, and it was excellent in every way. Taken from "THE LIVING BIBLE"
350 B.C. Proverbs, 31:6-7: "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more."

God is a greenie. He wants plants everywhere, for their oxygen-giving properties, not to be dried and huffed.

God is definitely pro-alcohol, a substance which most of the pot people deplore.

So smoking tobacco is a sin?

From which it certainly does not follow that God is anti-pot. (Not that you said it did.)

God does not envision plants to be smoked, but rather as a source of oxygen and, for those that are edible, food.
But most of us holy men don't claim that He believes that smoking is a sin, but rather that smoking plants is not what He envisioned for plants.
However, some holy men believe that because of the health consequences, smoking tobacco is a sin against the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" which contemplates suicide as well as murder.

You missed at least one: To be mashed, fermented, and distilled. Given that, smoking doesn't seem out of line.

God does not mention these other processes.
Doesn't say whether they should or should not be done.
That's why we have the Supreme Court, to rule on aspects that were not specifically addressed.

Then why did he make them combustible? Mankind has been breathing smoke from plants for thousands of years as recorded of the ancients who in a tent tossed cannabis on a fire to provide a fragrant intoxicating haze. And if cannabis was the kaneb bosem of scriptural reference burned in the holy of holy as incense it is no wonder that God hung around and communed with the Priests and acolytes.

Well it is a slow death and until modern times did not affect life span, but the tobacco to be smoked would be nicotina rusticana the plant the Indians smoked but did not particularly cultivate. Our modern plants have been bred to be more intoxicating and nicotine is very addictive.
But the God of the Old Testament was a local diety and had not learned of the plants in the Western continents but most likely knew all about cannabis. Some food we cook and some must be smoked and smoking tobacco w
