A lot of overseas Lao as well as passionate citizens of the world DO care about the people in Laos...many just DON'T CARE for its form of repressive, one-party Hammer and Sickle form of government.
Or, the fact that it's top international diplomat, Lao Ambassador to the U.N., Yong Chanthalangsy is an internet junkie (a job I'm sure was directly approved by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Thongloun SISOULITH, Lt. Gen. and Lao Communist President Choumaly Sayasone, and of course, the 11-Member Lao People's Revolutionary Party Politburo).
most compatriot Lao abroad do care for Lao people inside Laos, who suffer from this ugly secret war even after the war is over for 34 years now. Laos is the most bombed country on earth, more than 2 million tons of bombs were dropped on Lao land, just because the commu viet used Lao land, the ho chiminh trail, to fight their war....
if Laos is not under this garbage commu regime, during the past 34 years, She would be able to get rid of those UXO from Lao land long time ago.
it's a sad fact. i don't know if obama knows the fact that the US had bombed Laos more than any country on earth.....

Off course everyone from both inside and outside Laos cares about our own country. However, we Laonork can rally for UXO funding to collect all bombs that dumped by US planes and the Soviet bombs that set up by the commie soldiers I am afraid that only 10% of those money go for bomb harvest equipments, and 10% of it pays for the bomb collecting workers. The rest will end up with the Chao Nai like you pockets.
TKM,
Don't waste your time finding money for this bomb collecting project. These funding will desappear before its reaches its targets unless an international organization manage this project.

If you look at the agenda on the above link you will see that there are many many international organizations at this briefing including.
Here's a few on the list. 1. Dr. Maligna Saignavongs, Director, National Regulatory Authority 2. Tim Horner, Sr. Technical Advisor, National Regulatory Authority (via videolink from Vientiane, Laos) 3. Mike Boddington, Technical Advisor - Victim Assistance, National 4. U.S. Assistance to Laos * Charles Stonecipher, Program Manager - Asia and the Pacific, Office of Weapons Removal & Abatement, U.S. Department of State (State Department) 5. Steve Wilson, Director of International Relations, Mines Advisory Group (MAG) 6. Wendy Batson, Executive Director, Handicap International - USA 7. Steve Ginther, Program Manager for Mine Action, Humpty Dumpty Institute 8. Titus Peachey, Director of U.S. Peace Program, Mennonite Central Committee 9. H.E. Kanika Phommachanh, Ambassador of Lao PDR to the United Nations 10. Sarah Bruinooge, Program Officer, World Education/Consortium 11. Mai Sayavongs, Minister Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Lao PDR 12. H.E. Phiane Philakone, Ambassador, Embassy of the Lao PDR
The above was just a few on the list. These are the head honchos of each "International" organizations that you speak of. They were all there. I was there and I was impressed with the turn out that Channapah was able to bring to the table from all corners of the earth. More than I can say for the loudest voice here in SCL who have not been able to get any real support from the US or any other government even after so many years.
It is not hard to see who is walking and who is talking. No offense intended towards anyone.

Channapah was able to bring these people together, she deserves my support and she deserves the support from everyone here in SCL and SCH who ever said they cared about muang Lao.
off course you got my support for collecting those unexploded bombs that continue to kill our Pinong Khon lao ma dai lai pee. However, every project grant that going to help Laos requires a permission from the top dogs. These Lpdr leaders want so much out of $$$ it in order to give a green light for that project. History tells us that numerous countries have been given/ continue funding for UXO project in the past, but not much has been done. Plain of jar in Xieng khuang province was the most bombed area in Laos and UXO grants were given to collect bombs in this area in the past , still local folks get killed then and now. That proof that LPDR workers do little just to keep on the payroll.
