  Hello Mike, &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;For small scale used pcs I typically visit recompute.com.au at &lt;br&gt; Bankstown, sydney. &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;I have bought a few machines from there. Desktops and laptops; Dells, &lt;br&gt; ibms, acers, hps, thinkpads. &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;With the laptops, I always look closely for dead pixels; laptops &lt;br&gt; usually need new battery too.

  Hi Joshua, &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;I would suggest that you start attend few events / drinks and get to know &lt;br&gt; people in the industry. &lt;br&gt; It&#39;s not a very huge community to begin with. Most of the time, everyone &lt;br&gt; knows everyone. &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;From my experience, people in this community are very generous and generally &lt;br&gt; willing to give you advice over a cup of coffee / lunch.
