I would if I could keep my Dutch passport... no dual nationality allowed by
the Netherlands :( I also double checked that I needed to be a citizen and
they confirmed it :( I hope some people on this list apply though, because
remember: I you didn't apply and got rejected, you can't complain about who
gets on it and the decisions they make ;)

Come on Bart, become an Aussie. The test is easier now, you don't have
to remember stuff about Don Bradman.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case. The only restriction is that you need to maintain your principle residence in NL or reapply for your NL passport every 10 years if you're living overseas as a citizen of another country.
My wife has a NL passport, was born in Australia to a Dutch father who
immigrated here when he was 12 years old. She's visited NL once and
doesn't speak a word of Dutch.
Maybe her circumstance is difference, but it seems a bit wrong she can
have a dual passport and you can't !

I'm thinking this conversation is a bit off topic, but here's the deal: You
can get dual nationality by birth or marriage, but not voluntary. And my
Dutch passport is just too good to give up.
