Noticed there has been a bit of '' where can the hard of hearing meet
as a support group'' requests/ ideas/ intentions etc.
I am aware that SHHH did run a number of them yet have dwindled in
numbers since those whom attended got older and less mobile?!?
Maybe if we all let us know each others rough locations, ages,
interests etc - there can be some common ground which we could set a
time and place to convene and discuss issues, and anything else. The
more people we get, the more likely it can happen. tell your friends
or family to let them know about the SHHH initative. Of course it will
only be as good as members, attenddes make it out to be.
Well i am 27 and live in the innerwest Sydney near newtown. weeknights
are good for me. Be it a bar or cafe, peferably not too noisy. Can do
city or north shore.
I am Erin and I am also 27 I had no idea there was someone else this close to my age on this list!! But I am in Adelaide and I was under the impression that noone else is from SA???
Also I find it difficult to get out as I am in a wheelchair etc so at the moment this is not a good idea but I am still interested whether there is anyone else in the northern suburbs of Adelaide because I am going for an OT assessment soon to see if I can drive or whether car modifications are needed etc!! I am really excitecd about it.

Well that's a shame Erin, I live in
Perth. I love Adelaide though, I think it's a beautiful city. If
I ever come to Adelaide, I will let you know. Good luck with the
driving by the way, I hope it works out for you. I would go absolutely
crazy if I couldn't drive...

I live in Eastwood and I do shift work, so I would have to try and fit
in with what suits others. I did meet up several months ago with Pam
from SHHH, she lives in lower North Shore. I haven't heard from her in
a while, so not sure if she still tunes in to this discussion group.
The meeting I had with her was very positive and it was great to chat
about the various issues with our hearing loss.
I used to attend the SHHH group at Epping some years ago, but apart
from Clare McCartney, I was the only one still working (and I think
Clare may be retired now too), so I sort of lost interest. But I must
say those meetings were excellent.
Anyway, if there is anyone else in Sydney who is interested then let
us know. As Christian has stated this can only be as good as the
number who help to make it happen.
Cheers, Maree (Kristy)
