I just got through watching the Ken Burns mini-series about our national parks. It really got me to wondering, why is this country so unique in it's geology? Admittedly, I'm not very familiar with other countries or parts of the workd, but it seems that we have an over abundance of beauty. The Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Badlands, Devils Tower, mesas, etc. The list just. Why are we so lucky compared with other parts of the world? Thanks.

It could be because the usa is so big. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, too. People that live in those places don't think too much of them. I am a flat lander myself and prefer the vista of the Great Plains.

I'm falling over backwards laughing at this. What makes Americans so parochial and ignorant? Is it the education system, is it something in the water?
