Can you cast metals without a casting book or a casting supplier? Or build a fire to melt gold, bronze, iron or other metals without using matches or any other modern fire starters? Can you make an iron object from ore? I have the feeling the desert monkeys knew their stuff as well as, if not better than, you know yours. How would your electronics design skills help you if you were living 3000 years ago?

For starters it is compiled writings of thousands of years written in several languages, including Hebrew, Aramaic, Egyptian, Greek, and others.
Most modern versions lean heavily on the Vulgate Latin translation as does the King James Version (such as the NKJV, NIV, NASB, TGTB).

Ease of reading is so not to the point for way too many Xtians.
>What controlled the bullshit factor for the bible? Nobody lied?
You should know the claims that are common.

No change for millennia.

Actually in many ways it is far easier in the US today, nobody here wants to bother checking anything, except for a few more diligent people. Plus with mass media the BIG LIE is vastly easier now.

DofBC thinks all these "dessert monkey's" barely knew anything, but they're described as at least knowing how to make idols from raw materials, most modern folks don't know how to do that. What they knew applied to what they needed to know in the time that they lived, and probably not much less than we know today relatively. Bottom line is that they seemed to be quite capable for not having the modern education and resources we have today. More capable than many of us would be if we had to start where they were.

They all probably had really bad tooth decay.. No wonder they were praying to a God.. It was the tooth pain!

A time without the internet!!! How barbaric!

Jesus would be Joe Schmuck nobody if he just got sick and died like many other people at that time.. Jesus coughing up blood from tuberculosis isn't as hollywood as gore, torture and execution.
'....And Jesus planted daisies in his senior years and one day just vanished.' A story like that is a better role model and is more mysterious.

I don't speak of D, but for myself, the Physics, Chemistry, Sociology, manufacturing history, etc., underlying my EE would hold me in quite good stead if i could get through the first month (language issues).
How well would you fare? And with what potentially valuable expertise?

Maybe OK, it's hard to know without being in the situation. I have some wood working, metal working, machining, casting, and forging skills. Also electrical and mechanical aptitude. Hunting, fishing, gardening, etc... I guess I would say I have good basic skills that could be used in many different ways, survival being one.

You do not seem to remember the state of matter at the 'time'.
There were no elements yet, so why would there have been photons?
You seem to be the one that did not think it though.
Also, how do you know even what form that what we know of as "heat" was in at the 'time'.
IR photon emission is the result of heat, not necessarily the producer of it. Though it is a good carrier of heat energy. Anything above absolute zero emits IR photons.

Name a type of super massive intense explosion that makes no light..

I think it's cheating when the english language is modified to make the bible less goofy. When 'day' is read in genesis it most likely refers to the idea of 'day' at the time of writing. iows...The language/meaning (semantics) at that time.. I"m guessing a 'day' meant sunset to sunset. If God said to Moses.. 'I created the universe in 0.00000000000001 jesuseconds.' Now that would be a God worthy of worship! The bible has no scientific data not even concepts of time beyond what was observed by desert goat herders. God can't teach a new word for time? But will kill someone working on the Sabbath....yeah.. ok.
If every fkn word in the bible doesn't mean what it's supposed to mean then it's a cryptic document that can be twisted to mean just about anything. For good communication, writer and reader have to agree on the meaning of words. If it's Gods intent to make it so that there's poor communication in the bible then isn't that a god deliberately jerking people around. If parts of the bible are vague, what good are those parts? (Ex. All of genesis) What good is 5% of a painting? If you twist the language around enough, one can turn 'Alice in Wonderland' into creation theory.
Even if true, creationism is ridiculous! But it's not true, so it's double ridiculous! And the bible is human based(people are imaginative liars), which should disqualify us from guessing at how the universe came to be .. so creationism is triple ridiculous!
A god that takes all day long to make a universe and can't personally write a book is silly god. The bible is a communication mess, slow at creating matter and has no evidence of existing. God is not good role model. God is like someone working at a McDonalds drive thru.
