I post this as a warning for anyone researching this lens before purchase.
I have a Sony a200 and recently bought a Sigma 70-300mm zoom. The reviews
say it makes great pictures and I agree, the optical performance is great,
especially for a cheap-ish lens. What the reviews don't tell you is that
this lens was designed before Sony started fitting more powerful focus

Handy use for Hasselblad viewfinder

This idea has proved so useful, I want to share it. I found a used
waist-level Hasselblad viewfinder at a flea market, and I have been using it
with my digital camera, my Palm organizer and my cell phone. It doesn't
attach, but when I hold it against the screen, I get shade and
magnification.
When it's not in use, it folds flat and goes in my pocket.

I do a lot of photography on the water. A common problem (especially in
the summer) is haze and humidity leading to muted colors.
Is there anything (short of shooting only on clear days) to improve the
situation? I usually have a UV filter on. I've tried a circular
