Subject: Photo archiving and tagging software
Hi,
I do not know if this is the right group for my post, but I post anyway.

I have been digitizing my family's old negatives and photos. I am looking
for a really nice photo management software. I already have Adobe Bridge and
iPhoto. I find both inadequate for my needs (listed below). I am considering
using Aperture but i think it is more for a professional photograper than
someone like me (althogh i take 2000+ photos a year with my d80).

Specifically I am looking for two advanced tagging features:
1. Be able to select people in the image and name them just like facebook or
flickr.
2. I live very far awy from my parents (who know the back story etc). I want
to be able to share a lower quality picture with them securely online (like
picasaweb) so that they can edit the meta-data, identify people that I could
not recognize. It is impossible for me to ship/transfer parts of the library
to them and back. I want my originals to be updated automatically once my
parents have added information to that low-res version.

I have searched high and low on the net and havent found any tool. I think
this is definitely feasible from a software point of view. I also welcome
suggestions on how to pull this off using existing tools/codes, even if that
meant I would have to write some programs.

Thanks,

Srikanth
