Subject: Getting rid of haze?
I do a lot of photography on the water.  A common problem (especially in
the summer) is haze and humidity leading to muted colors.

Is there anything (short of shooting only on clear days) to improve the
situation?  I usually have a UV filter on.  I've tried a circular
polarizer, which helps a little, but not much.  Are there other filters I
should try?

Is there anything I can do in post processing that might help?

Check this site

right filter.

And which filter would that be?  Haze causes diffusion in the image,
affecting both detail and contrast.  You can make the picture look somewhat
sharper by digitally increasing the contrast, but detail, once gone, is
gone.  Sharpening may seem to help some by creating edges artificially out
of the blur, but this runs the risk of putting outlines around things where
they do not belong.

OTOH, if you were shooting in black and white, a filter could help, by
eliminating that part of the spectrum that is affected most by droplets or
dust.  If I remember right, you want to eliminate the blue end of the
spectrum and favor the red, or even infra red.
