I am new to the filter and lens. Hope I can get good advices here. I went to ebay and got a set of used filters for my digital camera. There is one Hoya PL lens. I doubt it is linear pl, but not sure. Does that matter for digital camera if it is not cir-pl? Also, how do I tell it is standard or double coated lens without the retail package? Here is the link to see the filter. http://home.comcast.net/~msteapot99/hoya-pl-640.JPG Filter was made in Japan.
Thanks in advance. Jaimie
Hi Jaimie I pretty sure it's a linear polarizer. The delta arrow & double rings say linear. Multi coated filters differ in their appearance, but in general, the more coatings the wilder the color. Zero coating looks like plain glass. Single coating has a pail color. And multiple coatings look like something a rock star would wear. Hopefully another poster can give you a better way to identify multiple coating. Best Wishes, John
