Hi Rob
* Your Sigma 70-300 Macro II is sharpest when set at F8 according the a review I
read. I have the same lens, and yes its better at F8.
* Use as higher shutter speed as you can with telephoto lenses like the Sigma to
avoid shake/blur. Tripod is extremely handy, but bulky.
* A circular polarizer would help cut glare from water and allow you to see into

What you have is just fine (see below). If you don't know how to use it
effectively, you can leave the tripod behind. Use an ISO 100 print film for
bright daylight shots and a faster ISO 200 through ISO 800 print film for
lower light shots (evening or flash). The faster films will allow better

You are missing a fast lens. Could be some nice opportunities for
available light photography. Look at a Canon 50mm f/1.8 as they are
fast, sharp and inexpensive. Make a point of comparing its results to
either of your zooms ;) For fish underwater a polarizing filter is a
must. Serves double duty as it helps with landscapes. Improves

 Hello NG,
I'm looking for a relatively fast zoom lens for my 10D, trying to decide
between the Canon EF 70-200 f4L and the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX.
I've found both lenses at similar prices (Canon slightly more expensive),
and on paper it seems the Sigma is the way to go (as it gives you a couple
of f-stops more) but wanted to hear from people who've used these lenses and

 Hello!
Please help me making a choice:
What should I buy for my EOS 300D?
A) Canon EF-S 75-300 III USM
or
2) Tamron AF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD Macro Autofocus
?
Pro/Cons?
Moreover, I'd like to add either an EF-12 or an EF-25,
what difference is there between the two? Maybe they are
discountinued, since I cannot find their specifications.

The old Gossen Luna Pro was the standard for a long while and Gossens
are well thought of. But a spot meter is really a more specialized
animal and is used pretty heavily by Ansel Adams/Fred Picknose
purists. I'd start with a less expensive one and keep it as a backup
when you get more advanced.

Identify pl filter

I am new to the filter and lens. Hope I can get good advices here.
I went to ebay and got a set of used filters for my digital camera. There
is one Hoya PL lens. I doubt it is linear pl, but not sure. Does that
matter for digital camera if it is not cir-pl? Also, how do I tell it is
standard or double coated lens without the retail package?
