Film holder for Ica Favorit: progress report
|
| |
I'm happy to report that I now have a whopping *one* film holder for my Ica Favorit (9x12). It's actually a film pack holder that I modified to take a single sheet of film. Ackshooly, I didn't do anything to the holder itself, but merely made an insert from illustration board to hold the film, with a... more »

best film holders?
|
| |
I'm in the market for some more 4x5 film holders. I have a mix of "Fidelity" and "Riteway" holders that are both fine. I also have a 1-2 of each that leak light (why?) which I do not use for that reason. What type should I get and is there a recommended source for used ones? B&H Photo wants nearly $100 for two new ones, which is insane.... more »

Antique film holder soiught
|
| |
I've probably posted this request here before, but what the hell: this group is practically dead anyhow, so maybe it's a good idea just to post *something*. Took another look at one of my antique folding plate cameras today and thought how nice it would be to actually use it. It's an Ica Favorit,... more »

Opinion sought: Omega 45D
|
| |
I'm not a LF guy (Hassy 500C/M is what I do have). There is a "mint" Omega 45D for sale near here with monorail, ground glass back/grid, 34/35mm opening on the lens board. Claimed as "mint" including the bellows. No lens. (Pls. Suggest lens to cover studio portraits, architecture and landscapes?)... more »

Test results for an old shutter
|
| |
Moving closer to my goal of actually taking pictures with my antique wooden camera (Rochester Optical Co. "Universal" 5x7), today I tested my shutter so I can know how to estimate my exposures. Here are the results. The shutter is a Rochester Optical & Camera Co. (R. O. & C. Co.)/Bausch & Lomb "Victor", carrying a lens marked only as a "SYMMETRICAL 5x7" [1].... more »

Found: tape for film holder repair
|
| |
We've discussed the subject of what tape to use to repair film holders here before. (That's the tape used to hold the light seal hinges to the holder.) While there are other materials that will work well here, I found something locally that I'm going to use on my film holders. It's a book repair tape made for taping the spines of bound books:... more »

Professional Photography in All Its Varieties
|
| |
Believe it or not photography has been with us for the best part of two centuries. If you see photographs from the mid-nineteenth century in a museum and compare them with the sophisticated computer images that have become popular today, it is astounding how this science has developed. The early photographers drew their inspiration from the... more »
