why do overdone HDR photos look like paintings?

Let me start by saying this is not to debate the merits or demerits of HDR. All I want to understand is the technical reason that overdone HDR/tone-mapped photos look like paintings or cartoon drawings. Wire connector for Flash

I have a Nikon DSLR and have a Nikon SS-400 Flash. Does someone make a wire that will connect from the camera top shoe to the flash so the flash can be held away from the camera? TIA

Supposed to last for 1000 years. Instead of an organic dye, they have some mineral, and they need a special burner, that costs $5000. If you want to send the data to the company, it costs 30 euros for a DVD (4.7 GB, of course). Full story here, only in german: [link]... more »
