More important is probably to buy from a reputable dealer because faked cards which claim to have x GB but actually with much less capacity are still around. And no, the better fakes you cannot detect by simply looking at the size of the card on your computer, because the modified firmware will report x GB. And on the best fakes you can even write to x GB because multiple address blocks are mapped to the same memory location and you will only notice after a long time that your data becomes corrupted whenever you write more than x/y GB to the card.

Let's not get paranoid here... doing a "fake" chip is expensive. The "fakes" cards are mostly made ou of borderline chips, with few remappable sectors available so they will wear ou a lot quicker than regular cards.

Card speed sets a limit to shooting speed. If you intend to machine-gun you need a fast card. Nikon usually publishes in the camera manual a list of approved cards which will not slow down the camera.

I only ever Buy Sandisk. The Extreme II or III cards are excellent.
Make sure the dealer is a genuine Sandisk dealer. Another brand I have never had failures with is "Kingston" Not quite as fast but just as reliable and quite a bit cheaper.
Don't forget you'll probably need a new card reader for "HD" cards too!.

I would get a name brand card from a reputable dealer. Given those constraints, I'd also go with what's cheap. You deal off e-bay, you get what you deserve. The cards are generally not expensive from real retailers.
