Hasselblad's answer to the Foveon
|
| |
[link] For still photography, every pixel is shot with each colour filter by mechanically moving the filter array by 1 pixel between shots. 4 shots later you have 50 Mpix with true RGB for each pixel. At that, it is 16 bits/colour. No demosaicing means more accurate colour at each pixel... more »

The eye and the lens
|
| |
Hi all! Not a big deal, but I always thought that what we see through our eyes is equivalent in size to what we see through a 50mm lens. The other day, I was out taking pictures with my 5D Mark II with a Canon Zoom EF 70-300 mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM. Unless I'm grossly mistaken, at 70mm, the object I was aiming at looked a... more »

Well, it finally happened. I did a mediocre job on an assignment to photograph a building the other day because I don't have a wide enough lens to do it right. I've been hoping to get the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, but both B&H and Adorama have had it back-ordered for months. Is the Tokina factory ever going... more »

Sick of cyan-blue skies
|
| |
I don't know what planet some people think we live on, or maybe it's that some people have a restricted range of colour vision, but Earth skies are NOT cyan, they are blue and should look blue in pictures. As far as I know, there is no green component in the oxygen-scattering of blue light in the atmosphere.... more »

D200 Aperture contacts broke
|
| |
My D200 (backup) has a problem where the aperture reads f/45 in all but AF-S lenses... possibly I banged up the electrical contacts somehow... it works otherwise, just doesn't show the aperture. The meter even works. Hmm, well D lenses don't work because they require the aperture set to f/22 so it blinks EE...... more »

"The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby
|
| |
After a little deliberation, reading reviews, trawling a few forums, I decided so splurge and buy a couple of books. I love reading novels, but for some reason for technical information I've always preferred online mailing lists, forums, and USENET newsgroups. Splashed out and bought CS4 Photoshop and Lightroom 2 recently,... more »
