  It could be. The amount of metol in standard D-76 is &lt;br&gt; minimal. I would suggest increasing it to perhaps 5 grams &lt;br&gt; per liter. &lt;br&gt; Also, in general, the activity of the developer is &lt;br&gt; slightly lower than standard D-76.   Is it possible that my home brewed, &#39;improved,&#39; no hydroquinone D-76 &lt;br&gt; would be less active at 1:3 dilution than standard, out of the box &lt;br&gt; D-76? Although my home made D-76 compares favorably with store bought &lt;br&gt; D-76, results at 1:3 seem underdeveloped.
