Old Paterson Enlarger?
Someone gave me an old enlarger. It has no markings on it, but it came with a set of Paterson trays, Paterson tongs and a Paterson 3 element lens, so I'm guessing it is a Paterson enlarger. I have no data on it's age, but it came with a bulk loader still contaning film with the flap from a roll of Tri-X with a 1990 expiration date.... more »

To Dye Or Not To Dye?
“To dye or not to dye?” ... that is the question. At least that was the question I began asking myself a decade ago as I grew weary of dyeing my grey-streaked hair. Back then, upon presenting my dilemma to my hairdresser I chose to follow his self-serving advice, “You’ll have plenty of time to go grey!”... more »

Wet photography is really dying
Another depressing data point: today I saw an Omega enlarger put out on the curb on my way home. (A little 35mm one.) Nearly complete.

Enlarger lens options.
I am well aware that probably all modern enlarger lenses are pretty good. The question arises, is the Componon HM series any advantage for black & white printing over the Componon -S I am pretty thick about reading any graph curves but the Componon - S curves seem flatter than the HM ones. An anomaly...
Hi everyone. Here's something interesting that was discovered after separately developing two rolls of 35mm T-Max film: a type of apparent exposure outside of the sprocket holes, starting at the beginning of the roll and tapering off in intensity and width, disappearing completely after about frame 10. They are... more »
