FORT HOOD, Texas – A military mental health doctor facing deployment overseas opened fire at the Fort Hood Army post on Thursday, setting off on a rampage that killed 12 people and left 31 wounded, Army officials said.
Authorities said immediately after the shootings that they had killed the suspected shooter, but later in the evening they recanted and said that he was alive and in stable condition at a hospital, watched by a guard. ***************** LZ

With muslims in our Military, what if a patrol is sent out and your son is in the patrol. And right beside him is a muslim, who might shoot him in the back. "I got your back" is a dangerous situtation today...

Jane Fonda encouraged our soldiers to frag their officers during Vietnam days.
And our liberals found no problem with such treason. ********
From Wiki:
She likewise supported Huey Newton and the Black Panthers in the early 1970s, stating "Revolution is an act of love; we are the children of revolution, born to be rebels. It runs in our blood." She called the Black Panthers "our revolutionary vanguard", and said "we must support them with love, money, propaganda and risk."
In a 1970 address at Michigan State University Fonda gave a speech saying; "I would think that if you understood what Communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees, that we would someday become communists."[18] LZ

How do you frame the debate? It appears that and it has always been that Muslims follow Mohammed's murder cult first and last. There is no God and America to them. America is the enemy. He served because it was convenient to him not because he wanted to serve the Republic? He committed an act of Terror. He didn't want us invading Iraq and Afghanistan? We didn't invade either. We are taking on the Taliban and allied groups that want to destroy Iraq and Afghanistan and turn it back to the 7th Century jail of Muhammad. We are not subjugating these countries. The Citizens, of these countries, are mostly Muslim and not our enemy. It's a bogus argument on that Terrorist's part. He supports the Taliban etc and not the general population of those countries. A large number of the People we are trying to save would gladly cut our throats though because they are various degrees of Fundamental Muslims. The Multiculturists and Global Business wants to bring more of them here to further add to any divisions,in the Country. We must stop letting potential Terrorists into the Country to attack and convert more American kids to the murder cult of Islam.

Wouldn't you look rather foolish (to put it mildly) if it turns out that the Army Major committed these murders solely because he was pissed at the military for wanting him to take on a duty assignment that he didn't want? Might he have reacted the same way if he had been assigned to, say, Alaska or Patagonia? What if it turns out that his religion had absolutely nothing to do with his actions earlier today?
Mind you, I'm not defending or excusing him. But I do firmly believe that this country should not give up the constitutionally required "innocent until proven guilty" in matters of motivation. Stop speculating, wait for the facts to come out. -- CHA in FL http://sky.prohosting.com/chainfl/index.htm

The irony to me is that he's a military mental health doctor.
I watched the local 10:00 news and they confirmed that Maj Hasan is alive and under guard. He had been shot several times. Also, the female police officer who was reported killed in the shootout is alive and in stable but critical condition.
The fort lockdown continued until almost 8:00 PM CST. Fort authorities are now satisfied that Hasan acted alone and that it was not a conspiracy of terrorists.
I was on my way to an opthomology appointment at Scott and White Hospital in Temple and passed the fort at just about the time the shootings happened - the fort hadn't been locked down when I went past. Coming home about 4:30 every gate I passed, there are three off of US190, was blocked by multiple police cars from every law enforcement agency in the area and guys in body armor and Kevlar helmets were patrolling the area - nobody in or out. As I was going past the S&W main hospital on my way to the eye placa I saw a helo landing on the new roof pad, notable at the time only because it was the first time I saw it in use. On my way home there were two ambulances led by a highway patrol unit heading towards the hospital going full out. The area where I saw them has a 70mph speed limit and I would guess they were crowding 90mph.
Of the 31 reprted wounded at least 18 of them were transported to Scott and White, the major trauma unit in the area. As of about four hours ago four were in operating theaters and the surgeons were cautiously optomistic about their chance of survival. Four more less critically injured were being treated in the ER and prepped for later surgery. The rest were i wards. Also, there was a line of blood donors going out the front door of the hospital almost to the parking lot. So many in fact that S&W was putting out requests that no more come tonight but come back at 8:00 AM tomorrow. They are swamped with responsed for their request for blood. Blood collecton units have also been set up in several surrounding towns. The donations will be shared between all of the ERs and hospitals tending the wounded.
You almost have to stretch your imaginaton to visualize the sheer size of Fort Hood. There are usually about 56,000 troops assigned although the number is down right now because of about 16,000 1st Cavalry Division troopers in Iraq plus an armored cavalry regiment in Afghanistan. There are nine schools on the fort proper, seven elementry and two middle. All of those kids were herded into safe places, like gyms, and were under armed guard the entire time of the lockdown.
Who knows what lit this guy's fuse? He was being deployed to Iraq and didn't want to go. He reportedly had received a poor performance review while assigned to Walter Reid Hospital - he only got here about four months ago. He had filed a hate crime complaint with the Killeen Police Department because someone had scratched "Allah" in the paint of his car. The police wrote it off as another case of vandalism, of which Killeen has plenty. One thing is for sure - he was/is a psychiatrist badly in need of another psychiatrist.

It seems he has a track record of speaking out against our involvement in the terror war ever since 9/11.
There are many military people who are happy to accept the pay and benefits but when it comes time to earn them, they find many reasons to dodge their responsibilities. Which is why it is a courts-martial offense to miss transportation to a combat zone. LZ

Since you know for a fact that the scenarios you present are NOT the case here, stick with what we know. He was quite specific in his views leading up to his terrorism act!! --

Your scenario has no time based relevance. I know dozens of people on the scene saw him do it, and I knew that within minutes of the news reports. He was threatening people and posting anti US tirades for months prior. Why didn't the military put him away?
So you are saying that he would have killed these people had he been ordered to Alaska? Are you saying there is a possibility that he DIDN'T do the deed? The evidence is incontravertable. Does he deserve a trial? CERTAINLY. Does he deserve legal representation? ABSOLUTELY.
He may be found innocent by mental incompetantcy but that will not get him off. Life in prison (having to listen to lamson would be a punishment >death)! --

You weren't a very good lawyer, were you?
When I posted my call for reason, there was no evidence of his motivation. What you may have known within minutes is irrelevant since it's not knowledge available to the original poster and to me at that time. Even now, there is nothing but hearsay.
Note also that I am not "saying that he would have killed these people had he been ordered to Alaska." I merely asked the question to indicate the need for not rushing to judgment.
But go ahead, display your lack of judicial temperament. I really couldn't care less because your post adequately evidences your prejudices and, therefore, your unworthiness of respect. Opine all you want, your opinion no longer has credibility with me. -- CHA in FL http://sky.prohosting.com/chainfl/index.htm
