All of us who bought the remastered CDs are gonna be kicking ourselves. The Beatles will release a 16 GB USB Apple-shaped drive that will contain their entire catalog in FLAC.

It is pretty expensive. I'd rather have the CDs (as I do). -- Replace you know what by j to email

I wouldn't buy that just to have the apple. I'll find a big apple, open it up and put a MP3 player inside...and keep it! Nobody had better steal my apple.

1. It's cute, but why so much? Are they assuming boomers don't know how to rip Mp3s off their Cds yet? Or they assuming once again a certain subset will buy anything?
2. We all know how serious they are when they say it's a Limited Edition. Pfft.
3. It would need to be flat to fit easily into most laptops w/o having to contort their position while it loads, or hang them over an edge of a surface.
4. And best of all, the link above has it released on 12.9.09, but if you go to the official beatles.com store

Hmm. On 2nd look, the apple is just a little case? And you pull the usb drive out? So it's really just a green flash drive with a little apple-shaped dock to....to what? To display in your media room? To wear around your neck on a string to make it easier to pass around at work? To look cute in a stocking? To make sure you don't confuse it with your other old flash drives? Not clear.

There was a deal between Apple Corps and Apple Computer that Apple Computer wasn't to go into music, but they violated that agreement. -- Replace you know what by j to email

I know but that was a million years ago before it could have been easily foreseen that computers/music would be the same thing. They finally settled that issue I believe . Apple Corp hasn't done much other than milk the Beatles for 40 years. It's a big one, but that's all they have. They've never done another thing after the breakup have they? And they got several hefty payouts from Apple Inc over the years that they didn't do anything to earn.
I know it was created primarily as a tax shelter, but when I watched the clips of John and Paul talking up the ideas behind Apple Corp. during their '68 media blitz, it was clear to me that Apple Computer. has delivered on the essence of that vision to a greater degree than Apple Corp. ever could have becasue they didn't remotely have the business or tech skills necessary. There's no reason why they shouldn't be partners in this other than territorial pissings and ego. It's frustrating to watch. It should be a match made in heaven.

the problem is, Apple has only one product to sell and they have to try to sell it over and over. It's getting kind of sad. What they should do is be a real record label, sign some new acts, have a reason for existing other than repackaging.

Of course, it was at one time a real record label with a roster of other artists in addition to the Beatles. So what you are saying is that they need to get back.
