What would a monk wish for?

Playing a monk, currently XL:13, a lousy Int and Cha, other stats okay, but HP:85 and AC:-6 not very good, especially for the Monk's quest. The early game passed, have speed boots, gloves, helm, robe, a small shield, and in my bag of holding a shirt. Martial arts at Expert, but wielding the +5 Frostbrand seems more effective. never trust a vampire

After a few charges with a polymorph-wand on my pet, I ended up with a vampire. Later on, i found a pair of boots, and since I already identified all other kind of boots, i knew these were speed boots. My vampire seems to like them as much as i do, since he kept them for himself after i tried to make him check if they were cursed. I can't... more »

Thought I could leave the Wizard behind on Water level; he had just appeared as I stood adjacent to the portal... @ <-- the Wizard @ <-- me ^ But, despite being one square away from the portal, he followed me to the Astral Plane. I'm giving a try to UnNethack due to recent post (and currently boring extinctionism game on vanila / NAO), on un.nethack.nu (Unix UnNetHack Version 3.5.2 - last build Tue Oct 13 17:10:50 2009.) Ok, I finally ascended in Unnethack 351 so I thought I'd record my observations here. There are spoilers below. In general, I think the game achieves what it sets out to achieve - less randomness at the start of the game and more randomness in the middle and endgame. Enhance a wizard's experience level in the late game?

I seem to recall that it was said that effectiveness of attack spells like magic missile would increase if the characters experience level increases. Incidentally my XL:18 (or so) wizard has half a dozen spare potions of gain level. Saving them for alchemy seems not necessary any more (he has already ~300 HPs), so there's the two apparent options to... more »

Well, I found a wand of polymorph in a shop. I decided to use use it to steal, but I polymorphed the shopkeeper, not me. So It looked like this Asidonhopo the yellow dragon gets angry! ...So anyway, what would happen if I found the bones? Would killing the ant be murder?
