Never mind. I held out for a while with a cursed two-handed weapon and a cursed towel on my head. But what did me in was a fight against Demogorgon and an Arch-Lich. I was actually doing fine until then.

Cleaver was the only weapon I had (ever) that would do any decent amount of damage, so I used it often.
The game was really boring before this sequence of events, though. And what was surprising is how long I held out. Finally, I lost a fight with Demogorgon because my unicorn horn was cursed.
Even though I know better, it didn't occur to me not to wield the two- handed weapon in Gehennom until it was too late.
Until Demogorgon showed up, I actually thought the death would be to brainlessness. I thought I could make my way up to the castle, and I would have made it too, except for those pesky mmf's, arch-liches, and Big D.

You had no clairvoyance at 17th level?
*never* use a bag of holding when you can use a sack or oilskin sack. You just learned why.

I guess I shouldn't respond to trolling, but: you're kidding, right?

You're relying on a whole bunch of wrong assumptions there.
No of course not. The OP had his holy water *in* the bag of holding which completely defeats the purpose of carrying them around.

In this situation, if his holy water was in a sack or oilskin sack it would still be of no use to him - wielding a cursed two-handed weapon leaves you with no free hands to open any kind of container.

Well yes. However my point is still there: attempting to remove them from the cursed bag of holding has a very high risk of making the holy water disappear. You could make the point that the OP was very lucky to have lived that long.
