Subject: YAAP Overheat-Bar-Hum-Mal-Law
The first game after my first ascension is also my second ascension-
two in a row. This ascension is not pretty-- 16 wishes and my final
weapons are a +5 silver saber and a +0 silver saber. At least I was
polyitemless.

This barbarian was neutral and had good stats--18/04 str,17 dex, 17
con, but it was the two handed sword version. Switched to axe to get
ready for cleaver. Went down to gnomish mines. Minetown has two magic
lamps and only four candles. Level under has an amulet. Since the
Heart is a luckstone no need to go to mine's end. Magic missile from
something lets me know I have reflection.

Soko, please do not give me my first reflection ever when I actually
have it already. The RNG was my friend this time and for pretty much
the whole game. Ok, BoH. No altar so I'm going to try to take down the
Minetown priest. Start with /oMM and get blinded by lightning. Run up,
fight, heal finish him off. Sac for cleaver. Bless one magic lamp. For
what do you wish? Blessed Orb of Fate.

Hmm, now I do not need to nurse dance or alchemy. Keep going down--
find cloak of protection. Find a wand--WoW 0:3-- 2 b?oC, speed boots,
GDSM, HoT, 3b?oG. Save the rest.

Get to Medusa. Wish up a =oL. Reflect is instakill for her. Still need
a good one handed weapon.
Wish for a =oSD. Sac till crowned. Vorpal Blade.

Castle-- =oL around back. WoW is 0:3. b magic marker. Save the rest.

Down the VotD. Clear that out. Still need silver weapon. Fort Ludios
gives me nothing. I buy 9 points of protection. Prepare for ascension
run. Write some enchant weapon. Shucks I forgot to press x. There goes
Vorpal. Blessed +3 silver saber please. Get +0. 5 wishes left. 3 magic
markers. Blew most of them writing gold detection and magic mapping.
Zero of either existed in my game. Another MM- went all to enchant
armor. Wrest for =oC.

Get down to Vlad. Put on the candles--big room gave me three more.

Get to Rodney. /oD. Rush to Sanctum. Get in-- no Amulet. Yeenoghu had
it.

The MF was killing me. Never met Rodney-- but I kept feeling the
malignant aura. I would check for him with telepathy but he would not
be there. Does this mean I left him on a level?

Used my last holy water uncursing my =oL on Jub's swamp. Get to my
stash dilute 5 extra healings. Make holy water. Use one to bless magic
lamp.

Dlvl 1. Drop everything that is not necessary.

Plane of earth kill Rodney. Read Conf GD get to portal.

Plane of Air-- Conflict takes care of everybody.

Plane of Fire-- Conflict and levitation. Conflict is useful with only
-21 AC.

Plane of Water-- wait 500 turns for portal.

Astral plane-- Conflict bring four hostile angels. Apparently they
taunt you while fighting. Closest was guarded by famine-- lawful. Rub
magic lamp- helm of opposite alignment. Put on -Chaotic. Uncurse put
on-- lawful.

You win.

I disagree on the non-pretty bit.  You have a streak.  Streaks
are pretty.

At least the initial weapon helped you practice for the crowning
weapon.  I like the lawful and chaotic ones, but Vorpy doesn't
suck.

Great for much of the game.  You already knew to switch to
one handed weapons for the late game but there would be
plenty of time for that later.  Good strategy.

I find it strange strategy that you decided to go so much of
the game without maxed out luck.  I've always found that
hitting every time thanks to maxed out luck is worth the
extra levels and extra work in the mines.

I also like to have available a hard gem to be able to etch
the E-word in non-emergency situations and mines end has
some guaranteed hard gems.

Chuckle.  Some games I've lost to acting like I got reflection
form Sokoban.

So no protection purchased from the priest earlier in the game?
I prefer to sacri-fest for protection.

There's the protection.  That used plenty of gold.  It's what the
gold is for. ;^)

This almost sounded like you killed Rodney before you
found the vibrating square.  I'm pretty sure that impression on
my part is poor reading.

Now there's an acronym that can have an assortment of
meanings.  It's clear from context you mean mysterious
force in this case but I chuckled at seeing it one line after
reference to Yeenoghu that late in the game.

No.  I've climbed out from the VS to the top without seeing
him.  It doesn't happen in many end run games but it does
happen.

It works to take off conflict before entering astral then put it
back on again once on the level.  If you already know exactly
where the portal is (usually do unless I've lost the scrolls).

I'd been wondering why you wished for the Orb of Fate if you were
lawful. That explains it.
