I've just started a Nethack group on Ravelry.  Come join us!

P.S.  If you're not a knitter, and you're not on Ravelry, then this
won't interest you.  :-)

Why not post here? It already has a group of posters along with experts.
The Web bites for discussions.

Heh -- actually the kniting is done in the "real world".  :-)

Ravelry is social networking site for knitters, crocheters, spinners,
and other fiber enthusiasts.  I suspect most Ravellers don't hang
around usenet, although there could certainly be some Nethack players
that check this board once in a while who use Ravelry too, hence the
invite.

Knitting would seem to take away valuable time that could be spent
playing Nethack.

On the other hand nothing says "I love nethack" like a sweater with an
@ across the chest.

nothing will scare away foocubi like a piece of clothing that says you
still live with your mother.

Like a potion of blindness, but permanent.

One successful hit cuts visual range to 1 grid cell
in all eight directions, a second successful hit
causes full permanent blindness.

Or
Woolen chainmail
Woolen chain helmet
-> stretches out when wet, makes you drown because it gets heavy, burns
to ashes. Maybe some static electricity effect.

Wool as cold resistance is a great idea of course.  It also keeps you
warm even when it's wet, but as it dries, it shrinks rapidly.   So if
you fall or jump into water while wearing it, 25 turns later you will
start taking on damage from your head being squooshed.

And I love the blinding +2 needle notion.  (pun intended)
