Wow talk about terrible balancing between days. imagine if day 2b is going to be twice the size of 2a.
Day 2a is going to be the remaining of day 1a and 1b starting at level 5. 1989 people started those 2 days.
Day 2b is going to be the remaining of day 1c and 1d starting at level 6. 4096 people if the 2400 rumor is true.
Both day 2's end at level 10
Even though it looks like they are playing the same amount of poker i think the difference in numbers and when the levels are played could have a major effect on the result. What do you think?
Sun, 05 Jul 2009 12:03:31 Scheduling Notes Days 1c and 1d will be playing five levels, it was just announced by Jack Effel. Day 2a, on Tuesday, will play five levels. Day 2b will play only four levels. Then when the field combines on Day 3, we'll all be on Level 10. Got that? We're not sure the players in the room got that. The level of murmuring has risen substantially during the announcement. Effel says the reason why Day 1c and Day 1d will play five levels instead of four is to make sure everyone can fit in the combined Day 2b field.

It would appear that playing 2a would be better ... one certainly has a lot deeper stack without skipping a level like 2b ... I can see a lot greater percentage of the 2a players making it to day 3 compared to the 2b players ... although the total number will be skewed to day 2b players ... but I guess that means 2b players will have higher average chip stacks ...
So maybe 2b is better ...
I don't know what's better ... but it cetainly is different ...

2b is not skipping they are just playing one more before they combine.

I think the number of people and the chips in play will allow for 2b players to have bigger chip stacks then 2a. This will translate into an advantage for them.

I think 2b has an bigger advantge but luck will play an increased roll. more people means more suck out mines to maneuver around.
2a you will see the luck be less of a factor due to the number of players.
I have not seen any pros talking about this and how it may help or hinder they're game. One thing for sure, it's nice to have Hellmuth in the bigger mine field so that he can play his asshole role and get more TV time. I wish they start giving the people what they want, Phil H getting penalties on ESPN.

Speaking of his assholeness ... He screwed himself in typical Hellmuth fashion by setting a trap only to have the other guy suck out on the river ... one of the last hands yesterday ... Flopped a straight against the other guy's top pair ... then let the other guy control the betting letting him suck out a flush (4 on the board) on the river ... It's one of the last updates on the WSOP site ...
brought a smile ... I can't wait to see that rant televised ...

Some of the rants and tirades are being done on purpose though. He's got to publicize his "pokerbrat" merchandise.
Can't believe how poorly he played that hand, especially on the turn where he needed to push. Just goes to show in poker the pros aren't really all that much better but just better promoters of image.
These will probably make TV just so Phil can sign another endorsment.

Hellmuth Slips, Buddy
Before the flop, Phil Hellmuth raised to 1,200 from the cutoff seat. The small blind made the call, heads up to the flop. It showed up . The small blind checked and called a bet of 1,350 from Hellmuth, and the turn came the . After another check, Hellmuth fired a second bullet, 2,200 this time, and his opponent called once again. The river card was the , and this time the small blind led out with a healthy bet of 8,500. Hellmuth snap-mucked and started talking. It was difficult to make out his exact words, but the word "buddy" was in there more than a few times. The jist of the conversation was Phil saying, "I promise I'll have the chance to bust you." A spectator on the rail told Phil that there were only a few minutes left in the day. Phil replied with something to the effect of, "It doesn't matter. He's on a mission to have me bust him." *****
Just a few hands later, Hellmuth again opened the pot for 1,200, and again his 'buddy' called from the cutoff seat. The flop ran down , and Hellmuth led out with a bet of 1,800. His opponent raised to 5,300, and Hellmuth hemmed and hawed and called. The turn card came the , and Hellmuth passed the bet. His opponent made it 5,600, and Hellmuth put in the call. Both players checked the on the river. Hellmuth showed down for the flopped straight. But alas, his opponent had run down the four-flush with , sending Hellmuth spinning off into one of his world-famous tirades. He's back down around 25,000 just as play wraps up.

Yeah when you have and the flop is and the turn is you definitely have to be worried about .

I think the other guy could have gotten a lot more chips from Phil after the river ... if he had seen Helmuth enough on TV to recognize the trap ... and countered it ... Hell just reading the update was enough of a read ...

Oh, come on, he's a slime bag, he couldn't pay his rent without money he gets for his support of a bunch of cheats -- UB has been known to be untrustworthy ever since that first Aruba WPT event, but Hellmuth needs their money.
And, speaking of slime, what's her name was right about Annie Duke getting her start in poker with mob money. She got her orignal stake from her brother who was arrested twice because of his connections to New York mob related bookies.

> They're all worthless.
But they know how to market them selves. hell David Williams got banned from the magic circuit for cheating, liked and asshole in Porn and then he had a bank roll.
Phil is a childish, abusive shill for a cheating site yet he still get endorsements and appearance fees.
Howard may have mob ties but now has Full Tilt and a fancy little nickname that gets him on TV.
Annie shills for a cheating site and still gets appearance fees and invites to TV.
Sounds to me like they should milk the money train while it is still running. I know I would. Maybe the problem is Gary that your have too many principals. Maybe if you were to have pulled some rediculous stunt on TV and cheated people you would be one of the big names.
