I've been watching "High Stakes Poker" re-runs and am always amazed at how badly Jamie Gold plays. It's astounding that a guy would go on TV and piss away that much money week after week. Hell, even on those rare occasions when he does have the best of it, he manages to win the absolute minimum. The best thing this guy could do to improve his game would be to duct tape his mouth shut. The deck ran over him in one WSOP ME and his cards were so good he over came his constant and revealing table talk. But that one time miracle tournament is long gone. And in perfect Jamie Gold style, he managed to lose half of his $12M first place money in a law suit to a guy who gave away a few tee shirts for him and miss out on God only knows how much endorsement money in the bargain. I'm assuming Gold is pretty much broke now because you never see him on "High Stakes Poker" any more. Plus, I saw an interview with Eli Elezra and he was talking about a player who once had $12M and is now too broke to play high limit any more. He didn't mention Gold by name but there wasn't much mystery about who he was referring to. My guess is all the high stakes players in Vegas shed a collective team when Gold went broke and dropped out of the high stakes games. Don't get me wrong. Gold seems like a pretty nice guy and he was entertaining to watch when he was throwing his money away. But, over all, it's just kind of sad to watch. If the guy had any friends they should have done a "poker intervention" before he lost all his money. On a brighter note, I think there's a lesson in there some where.

It's not Jamie Gold who Eli was speaking of. The ESPN coverage was very biased as far as showing Jamie's hands. He used his trash talking to get people to call him light and he took advantage. He got a big stack and kept the pressure on. He was both lucky and unlucky.
His game did not translate to high stakes because cash games and tournaments are very different. You guys should know that. Tom Dwan is extraordinarily successful in cash games but can't do dick in tournaments. It's a completely different animal.
Proud to be one of the 69,000,000+ Americans who did vote for Obama. Scoreboard bitch.

Well bucko, if it wasn't Jamie Gold, then who was Eli Elezra talking about when he said a player had won $12M, played in the high stakes game but was now too broke to play high stakes any more.? Because that sure sounds like Jamie Gold to me.

Listen up dipshit. You republican jackasses don't know how to read or listen. You and your posts make me sick and I am happy your party is spinning out of control with no hope of recovery. Go stick your tongue in Dick Morris' ass. Obama in 2012.
In your own post it said "someone who had 12m"; not won 12 million. Also as you should know he had to split those winnings with Crispin Leyser so that left him with 6 million which after taxes left him with about 3-4 million. Eli, Doyle etc. always talk about who cant play in the big game anymore and blah blah blah. Jamie Gold never played high stakes with those guys except on TV and he never played all by himself. Someone always had a piece of him. Why? I don't know. His bankroll is not even close to what is necessary to play in those games on a regular basis. If you are so knowledgeable about the game you shouldn't have any issues figuring out who Eli was talking about.

I ask you who it was and you launch in to a personal attack on me and some frothing-at-the-mouth political rant against Republicans. I'll take that to mean you're just a gas bag, who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about and is embarassed he got called on it.
