There have been numerous posts about Poker Stars not paying players who are trying to withdraw their money. However, there might be another problem at Poker Stars. I have talked to three people recently who said they deposited money electronically from their checking accounts to their Poker Stars accounts but Poker Stars did not do the electronic withdrawal from their checking accounts to cover the deposits. One guy said it's been almost four weeks since he did the deposit on Poker Stars but the money is still sitting in his checking account. Now usually Poker Stars collects the payment for deposits within a couple of days so maybe they are having some kind of system problem. Now here's the question the guy asked me and I'll pass it on.
He says he has a separate checking account that he only uses for online poker deposits. He had $500 in his account and deposited $500 in his Poker Stars account. Money transferred OK and he's been playing it on Poker Stars. So now, nearly a month later, the $500 is still sitting in his checking account. What could Poker Stars do if he just withdrew the $500 and closed the account? With all the current controversy and negative headlines about online poker/gambling, how aggressive is Poker Stars really going to be in trying to collect their money? What's your opinion?

The money will come out of his account sooner or later. There probably is a time limit but 4 weeks is not it. P S and F T are/were having serious problems with their processor and it probably a case of trying to catch up. Your friend should leave the money there--should be no big deal. If he closes his account and the e-check comes through then one of two things will happen. The bank will accept it since it was approved before the account was closed and he will be liable for the money. If he doesn't pay the bank then he is in for more trouble than $500 is worth. The bank refuses the echeck since the account is closed. P S will immediately close his account and will deduct what he owes from his stake. If there is not enough then is account will remain closed until he pays. People say that P S can't do anything about them collecting the money from a customer because they do not operate in the U S. Well, P S can try but if they are un-successful they can sell the amount owed to a U S based collection agency. You sure don't want those problems. Anyway, for $500 I doubt P S will do anything other than keeping the account closed until it is paid. For a lousy $500 the possible problems that could occur is not worth it. Tell your friend that quit trying to Welsh on a debt, the money will come out sooner or later. On Jul 6 2009 4:44 PM, La Cosa Nostradamus wrote:

Im one of the people with uncleared deposits from my checking account. I emailed the cashier and they informed me that i have no uncleared deposits.
Im leaving the money there, but it would appear that Stars has abandoned their attempt to collect some monies. I could see them not wanting to advertise that the recent snafu with deposits has forced them to abandon attempts to collect.
Mike, I desposited using echecks - is that the common thread among all uncleared deposits?
Thanks for the information - sounds logical. One correction, the guy is not my friend - just some one I play poker with occasionally. He's got money, a good job and, I assume, good credit. I doubt he'd risk it for $500. However, I do know some players who probably would close the account, grab the money and tell Poker Stars to pound salt. Just goes to show there's always two sides to every story.

He could also write a hot check at the grocery store then move to Mexico and it's unlikely that anyone would pursue him.
Or he could grab a candy bar at a 7/11 and just run really fast and it's unlikely anyone would chase him.
People steal stuff and get away with it every day.

Carson, you are a red neck anti-Catholic bigot and hate monger. Your blind hatred of Catholics reflects your ignorance, intolerance and prejudice. BTW, your anti-Catholic bigotry and persecution are nothing new. We've faced it hundreds of times before from anti-Catholic zealots and hate mongers like you, we always prevail and we'll be here long after you're gone and forgotten.

They could be having issues with the withdrawal on the bank side. I have seen posts int he past about this. Eventually Stars will contact them about it.
What could they do?
1) close the stars account and freeze the money in it including the money over the owed $500 until they receive the $500
2) Withdraw the $500 from his account and email him saying why
3) Freeze any withdrawals until the transaction clears so that he can not withdraw and run.
Your friend is kind of at their mercy because what is he going to do call the cops?

How long are you planning on copying and pasting your rant to Gary of every single post he makes? I'd hate to miss your contribution to the group, but this behavior is kill file material.

He's going to keep it up until the pope condemns me to everlasting death for my lack of support of god's pedophiles.

Carson is an anti-Catholic bigot and hate monger and always has been. He hates Catholics and never misses an opportunity to attack Catholics or the Catholic religion. If my pointing that out offends you, and if it will make you feel better to kill-file me, then do what you gotta do.
they will turn it over to collections. had a buddy i used to play with on a gambling boat in GA and party poker came after him over about 3k worth of deposits from a closed checking account. they eventually sold it and im assuming they guy's credit got whacked pretty hard. for 500$ i'd let it sit there for a long time before i took it out, not even close to being worth it.
