...and still these rims last several years!

This is my 15 year old SLX frame. I bought it then second hand for 1000
guilders (now 450 Euro's) with a complete 8s D-A group and Mavic rims.
Since I need a bike for foul weather and I have a new bike for good weather,
I decided to use this bike only in wintery conditions when salt is on the
roads and mud is everywhere. Only this year I changed the original D-A
brakes for second hand 105 brakes. The rear der. is the 2nd one in 15
years, the hubs are the 2nd set, the cranks are the 2nd crankset. FD is
original, headset is original with new bearings.

Actually, saying `silicon' here betrays
ignorance of the true state of affairs.
