Yup -- nice example of introducing enough irrelevant info that
people get distracted.  Here's the explanation
<SPOILER SPACE>

<SPOILER SPACE>

<SPOILER SPACE>

Explanation:

Suppose I pick number 21.

(1)  several numbers are in each color.  The numbers
1, 6, 14, 21, 22 are in magenta (or whatever the pinky color is).

(2) You select a colored rectangle that matches the color, so you narrow
own the options to e.g., the nu,bers above.

(3) Several steps later, you see some houses.  Each house has one number
from each color group.  So the house with 21 in it has none of the other
magenta numbers.

(4) As soon as I pick that house, the program crosses the two groups
(magenta numbers vs. those in that one house), and comes up with one in
common: 21.

All the rest is flimflam and razzmatazz.

I used to know a card version of the same trick, but this one is more
impressive(colors, shapes, doors, and the feeling that a dumb program
couldn;t possible be guessing right!).

So simple it is, Andy.  Thanks for the explanation.
