I admit I fell asleep during the pilot for this program, but since it
follows NCIS:LA I've been passively watching, too lazy to change the
channel.  I like it!  I thought it was going to be a lot of poor me
crap, but no.  Its not the usual legal crap or whiney women, either.  So
far the stereotypes are held to a minimum.  Last night's depiction of
the judge who doesn't like to be over turned was great, LOL!  Refreshing
to see a judge speak lines other than 'You must answer the question' or
'Call you next witness.'

If my DH falls asleep in his chair, I watch The Good Wife, a show I like.
If he stays awake, Jay Leno (such a disappointment) is on.  I am too lazy to
find a different room with a TV.  I am a Christine Baranski fan.

I really like it too! I believe that judge may be a recurring character
because he was in an earlier episode as well.  Besides Julianna M's Alicia
character, Kalinda the investigator is my favorite.

It's odd isn't it that verdicts that are challenged go back to the original
jurist. Feels rather like a conflict of interest to me, certainly not
objective, and definitely can'tmake the judge happy to be have to revisit
these decisions. But I guess this is how it's done in the real world.
Perhaps one of our legal minds will comment on this..

Since Chris Noth is listed as a "guest star' (imdb shows him in 6 episodes),
wonder if she'll divorce him the end, will he die in prison? etc.. Stay
tuned.

Related to another thread topic here, the actor who plays Judge Richard
Cuesta is David Paymer .

He's a "character actor" who looked so familiar (having seen him many times
in numerous shows and films --like Ocean's Thirteen --  yet I never knew his
name before now..........

Decades ago David Paymer was interviewed by Terrie Gross for 'Fresh
Air'.  He said one of the interesting things about him is that he always
gets parts where he has to wear glasses, when indeed in real life he
doesn't need them...of course by now he may, LOL!  Indeed, a great
character actor. (Classical definition)
