invention of the Dr Martin Boot. It would have been printed either
late 96 or early to mid 97 and went something like this...

I just scored a new Spike & Mike DVD called Cutting Edge Classics on
Amazon with 4 Maakies shorts I'd seen on SNL. There's some other
really great stuff on this DVD too. Not as sick and twisted as their
"Sick & Twisted" DVDs but still outrageously good. "An Old Story" is
especially funny. Thought you all might like to check it out. I

I believe the artist you are looking for is Richard Corben and the
story was called "Rowlf" (aka "The Story Of Rowlf"). It ran in three
issues of HEAVY METAL: November and December, 1979 and January, 1980.
This was its first appearance in colour.

Just did a search for the last Platinum Grit mention.. I think it was
1996. This came out in Australia when I was first getting into comics.
Well, the author has decided to plug em all into shockwave format and
stick it on the net, and there are even new issues out which I was
very pleased about. There's nothing worse than having ongoing stories

I'd check out Summer Blonde by Adrian Tomine if I were you. Also, any of
Daniel Clowes or Andi Watson's work. Actually with Watson, maybe stick with
either Breakfast After Noon, Dumped, or Slow News Day. Enjoy!

Discovered Jason Lutes, what next?

I've never read a graphic novel, nor a comic book since I was a kid...
a few days ago I discovered _Jar of Fools_ by Jason Lutes (I was lured
in by the Sherman Alexie introduction). Wow... this really blew me
away. I have already ordered Berlin: City of Stones and will look for
other work of Lutes'
But does anyone want to proffer a suggestion or two for work in this

For those unfamiliar with it, it's already been translated into 30 languages,
which is more than "Calvin & Hobbes"! Sort of a political "Peanuts" by
