Subject: Activation problem
We are using Rationale in our Critical Thinking course on a university
in the Netherlands, but we are having trouble with the license in our
shared computerroom. We activated Rationale on an image-pc and got a
popup message telling us that the license belongs to a different
machine. We then clicked "Ok - Activate" and everything worked fine,
so we spread the image to all the other pc's.

But now all those machines show that popup, and users can click "Ok -
Activate" and work with the program, but when Rationale is closed and
loaded again the message reappears.

I can't think of anything that went wrong. Before we activated the
image-pc, I've succesfully activated some other individual machines,
and that went fine. No problems there. Did exactly the same thing on
the image-pc, but the popup appeared.

But the problem got worse. It now seems that the "Ok - Activate"
button has been clicked so often that all our activations have been
"used up", and our students now get a "No more activations allowed"
message after clicking that button, which prevents them from using the
software! That is a big problem, because they need the software for
their assignments.

I've been in contact with Rationale support about the popup message,
but I haven't heard anything back in two weeks now. No response to a
reminder email yet. I've e-mailed again today. If support is reading
this, could you please get back to me?

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for telling us about this problem.
We have been investigating this problem for the last two weeks, but it
proved trickier than first expected.  Apologies for not keeping you
updated.

Technical Support has sent you instructions on how to get Rationale
running again and we've replaced your lost activations.  We'll
continue working on this to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.
