Subject: Feature request
Hello all,

I'd like to request a new feature for Rationale. In our course on
critical thinking, our students are required to make a poster-sized
argument map and present it to their fellow students. I happen to know
that ReasonAble had the option to print a map on, say, 2 by 3 pages
(A4) with a few millimeters of overlap so that you could tape the
pages together. Most of the modern printers offer this option in their
settings, but unfortunately, ours don't. We now work around the issue
by exporting the map to a rather large image file and then opening it
in MS Paint, which is about the only program I know about that allows
users to print on x by y pages. As you might expect, this workaround
causes problems for some of the less computer-savvy students.

Would it be possible to add the option to print on x by y pages to the
print dialogue in an upcoming version?

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely agree. The current functionality is a serious limitation.

Here might be solution. This is an free online services that let's you
upload large files and then print them out into smaller single pages
that can be stitched together. http://www.blockposters.com/

Good luck. M

Thanks Ludwig (Markus)

Its a great idea, but trying it out, I had trouble getting an acceptable
result for a bCisive map.  (Assume it is the same for Rationale.)  The
"poster" is too pixelated.  The problem is that BlockPosters requires GIF or
JPG, and a GIF or JPG image created by bCisive/Rationale is quite small -
intended for one-page printing - and so does not size up well at all.

If only BlockPosters accepted vector graphic files... or bCisive/Rationale
allowed exporting of much more high-resolution gif or jpg files...

You can get larger image files by zooming in to 500% before exporting
to JPG/GIF, which may improve the quality a bit.

Thanks for the link Ludwig, but I hope this functionality will be
added to the program. That would be much easier for our students.

In addition to MS Paint, you can also insert the image into a spreadsheet
program and break it into separate pages. I've done this with MS Excel. I
haven't tried it with OpenOffice, but suspect it would work in that also.
