Hi Alex,

There may be some advantages to this, but it is a com-plication and we haven't understood just how complex we will need to make the site yet (recipes/resources/??) Too many links and tasks would turn people off and a survey is something people don't necessarily respond to warmly - it is not to their advantage to be bothered with what they might see as clutter. My advice would be to tread warily on this until we are better sorted.

Hi Alex,

I think to get what we want we would need a program writer. That said, the calendars I linked to in the pbWorks version (? 30 days?) is worth better consideration I think. It is limited, but it would be a starting point and there may be other 'calendars'.

Hi Alex,

I'll continue working on it. Initially all I wanted was to get some thoughts down like in a paper. Because of the timing pressure I have been happy enough to send it off to TSN and Community Builders, but it could evolve into an Opinion piece for the Herald ... then into a letter to the editor ... who knows then even into a placard like repent and be saved or something (hee hee).

Fine.

There are other things we will want to incorporate - this could start to be a problem unless we get a good way to keep expanding. For example I would like to incorporate a 'cheap and easy recipes' post that does not disappear into the depths. Whether that is another priority post or a link I don't know... but we should think about such things.

Hi Alex,

Yes I agree the name needs thought - we also need to settlle on something soon because people are starting to use the forum now. The idea of being known as village people has an an appeal for me. I don't think My Area works - the best that can be said of it is that it is short.

Something along the lines of the one we are currently using you mean - with the space name sorted. I haven't got access to that layout until I go back to work on Monday, but it is basically the poster scaled back to A6 like the event cards that are also on the notice board.

If you have something substantially different in mind perhaps you could send a draft.

Hi Chris,
You can probably tell I didn't sleep very well last night....one more
thought. What about adding an online survey to draw people into the
space and help to find common topics of interest. We could use the 3
question structure of that video you found with a survey monkey linked
from Talking Point. What were those questions again?

Hi Chris,
This part of the project seems to be a project in itself. While the
way we have it set up will allow people to begin a topic and for those
topics to be listed well and for then to develop the description and
the basic jobs with others and then to develop them by using the
suggestions in the priority post, the space of course does not do

I was thinking that we need to develop a generic black and white A6
(1/4 of A4) Flyer that provides a pitch for the space and some of the
things that can be organised in it with a blank for a few local
topical events that can be filled in by any street. Peopl could use
this flyer to letter box drop or as a poster or as just a face to face

Hi Chris,
We also need a place for a resource list. So that resources like
Freecycle and the hall at the Neighbourhood centre and the computers
at the library and the toy library can be advertised. This could be a
priority post in the events page because they would largely be
stagnant services that could just remain there.

OK - it certainly gets there - but paras 2 and 3 a very repetitive -
they should at least be made one para. You may also get it into the
papers like the Herald if you can do a version of around 250 words. I
think this would be the widest forum for such a letter. With an letter
this short you could also blog with it. I know it's hard to sacrifice

Hi Alex,

I have tried to change the article according to some of your suggestions which have improved it - others need more work but I would prefer to get something out there today as it will be less of a media issue inside a couple of days when the parliament concludes its debate.
