  I think OpenWire is seen as being too tied to ActiveMQ for the folks &lt;br&gt; behind AMQP. The most successful wire protocol to date IMHO opinion is &lt;br&gt; STOMP, because it has been adopted by already existing message &lt;br&gt; brokers, like Sun&#39;s OpenMQ as well as RabbitMQ - where AMQP pushes too &lt;br&gt; much semantics on to the broker implementation for existing brokers to

  Great list - I&#39;m not sure whether to get the Ruby Metaprogramming &lt;br&gt; book, or the screencast. I rarely get a seat on the train, so books &lt;br&gt; are more readable than screencasts. (I should check to see if they &lt;br&gt; look OK on my phone though - it&#39;s got a decent screen, so might handle &lt;br&gt; a screencast better than my iPod did...)
