I saw a new PEX, I think that is how it is spelled water supply lines
that i supposed to meet the new International Building Code.
I was familiar with the Southern Standard Building Code that was
basically written to insure the home lasted as long as the mortgage.
What's with this stuff? One guy gave it the devil another guy professing
to be a  another builder praised it.
I like copper. Then there is stainless, like they have in Sweden but
can't find it.
What's the track record on this new stuff?

PEX has been in use for over 20 years, especially in Europe. You may be
confusing it with PolyButyl (gray plastic) which has a very bad track record.

A major cost component of new construction is labor. Copper is nice, but has to
be sweated in place which takes time. Copper prices have also gone through the
roof recently. PEX lines are continuous (so many less potential leak points) and
install much faster. Most plumbers use copper stubs so the connectors/valves
inside are no different from 100% copper.

Do a Google search on PEX for more...
