Stopping Windows Update auto reboot

Time and again, I've lost work because I've been pulled away from my computer and windows update decided it was more important to reboot my computer right then than it was to let me save me work. Is there anyway of preventing the auto reboot short of turning off windows update?

I recently re-loaded my XP SP3 and activated it through the microsoft process. The original cd was 4 1/2 yrs old so I know that many critical updates are needed. However, everytime I check windows update, it reports that no critical updates are available for my computer. Does anyone know what the problem must be???... more »

Interesting problem: I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit OS and windows update failed twice at updating my Gforce 7600GS video driver. I got the error code 80070103 each time. SO....
