Subject: KB969613 Failure
This is a security update for Office Professional 2007. I'm running XP Pro
SP3, IE8 and Office Pro 2003.

It won't install. Tried manual install and error message said "Detection
failed - this could be due to a corrupted installation database"

Do I need to install this even if it's for 2007?

I have the original install disks for Office.

You shouldn't need this update if you are running Office 2003.
If it's getting offered to you, then search your machine for the following
files:

Wordcnv.dll
wordconv.exe
Wordcnvpxy.cnv

If for some reason you have a 2007 version (12.x) of one of these on the
machine, it might be detecting as needed.

It's also an update for Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint 2007 File Formats:

Description of the security update for the 2007 Office system and for the
Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system: June 9, 2009:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969613

If Office Compatibility Pack (SP2) is installed, you should install
KB969613.

Tip: Insert your Office 2003 CD into the appropriate drive bay before
attempting to install the update again.

If no joy, see if you can install the fullfile version manually:
