Thanks Yury and Brooks for the assists. Actually, I ended up contacting Tech
Support, and discovered that I have inadvertently set my server farm to AD
creation mode that last time I installed it. They walked me through the
process on creating a new server farm without AD creation mode turned on,

Zolt,
try running the upgrade command from the command line before installing
the update, maybe SP2 didn't finish upgrading all the database schemas:
psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace v2v -force -wait
(version to version upgrade)
or
psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -wait
(build to build upgrade)

Phil,
For SharePoint 2007 you can use the OOB web content management features
to publish from dev to staging, and then from staging to prod.
We did a similar implementation a few months back, works fine.
For WSS you'll have to fall back to scripting or write your own tool to
export / import the solutions.

Rick,
It's a rather annoying and known issue, following steps usually solve
the issue
1.Check if your ssp databases are still in sync first:
stsadm -o deleteolddatabases 2
Where "2" indicates the number of days you want to check.
2. If you get a result with mutiple sid's you need to get the db's back

An admin just tried to change a top link URL on our main WSS3.0 site to
point to a different sub site page, but edited the site url and not the

Created a new Site Content Type and added two Site Columns:
1. Name: Custom Folder
a. Parent Content Type: Folder
b. Group: Custom Content Types
2. Add from existing site columns
a. Date Picture Taken
b. Update all content types inheriting from this type? Yes (default)

I have solved my problem by creating a linked adsi server in sql and let
once a day running a update query on the userinfo table ;)
no problem now.

Professional. After installing Internet Explorer Security Update
KB974455, users get logged on to the SharePoint site as [Domain]
\administrator. After removing the update, users remain logged in as
[Domain]\administrator. How can I log off these users?

Is it possible in WSS3 to allow some users to modify a list but deny them
the privilege of creating new items?
I would like to do it with the default functionality, but is this is not
possible, I would't mind taking a development approach..
