WSS 3.0 doesn't have single sign-on support. That's only in MOSS 2007.

I doubt if that in any case is the problem. I suspect there is something on
that page (an image: a web part) that they don't have rights to access and
therefore they are being asked for a "better" authentication.

I'm assuming that it knows these users are domainname\username because you
are either in the Intranet and have default IE settings or you have
specified automatic logon with existing logon name and password in they are
in another security zone.

Subject: Re: Single Sign On
Hi, this may sound daft but thats what my director has asked for. I have used
a web part on WSS 3 in order to access a web based shared calendar. This web
part works, however, it asks for authentication each time the page is opened.
The authentication details are the same as those used via active directory to
log into the site automatically. Do you know of a way I can stop it from
promting this? If it has to be coded could you point me in the right dirction?

Thanks,

Appologies, I am brand new to this - first timer. I misinterpretted Carolines
problem as the same as mine. Have since realised it was different.
