Subject: Document List Web Part
Does anybody know of a free document list web part that will allow you
to just upload documents and download documents? I can't use the
document list in Sharepoint because it wants to work with Workspaces.
I just need to upload the documents in the same fashion you can on
Sharepoint services but when somebody clicks on a document, it asks to
open or save instead of opening the document in a shared workspace.

Can we translate this question as meaning that you want to know how a
document that is stored in a document library can be always opened in the
application itself (Word, Excel etc.) rather than in the browser ?

Otherwise you'll have to explain where you want the documents uploaded to if
not to a document library.

Sorry let me explain myself better. I like the basic design of a
Document List. I like the fact that you can upload files easy enough,
make directories and send the files as attachments. What I don't like
is when a regular user clicks on the file it brings the file up into a
shared workspace with a pane. I would like it just to prompt the user
if they would like to Save the file or Open the file. If they click
Open the file then it brings the file up without the shared workspace.
I know you can change the setting in Word. I just didn't know if there
was a free webpart or plug-in that can be downloaded that will include
the design off the Document List but not all the same functionality. I
would like an intranet site where people can just download/browse
forms and not create a shared workspace area. I hope I explained that
better.
