I also have a Macbook Pro (2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo to be exact) with
4GB of RAM as well and I bought and have been using my mandala with an
M-Audio Firewire 410. So far it's been great. I think it was
discontinued but you can probably find a decent used one for around
$150. I have noticed less latency with it than without, besides that
it all still works pretty reliably even if I don't use the interface
though. But yeah, if you want to play live then I recommend an
interface. :-)
