Apologies for not acting sooner on the amount of SPAM this list has started
getting.
Google groups options aren't particularly good. The group has always been
"members only posts" but that doesn't stop the spammers from joining using
their robots.

So, I've changed the group settings to "Messages from New Members
Moderated". This will add some overhead from my point of view, to approve
new members first posts, but the end result is still good.
