Subject: Note about GSoC

I just was looking at hte KDE GS0C projects and one of them is Koffce doing
collborative editing. Anyone interested in working with them with
libinfinity-qt ? It would be good for them to start working on it as well as
good for libinfinity to have another project using it to start breaking it
in untold interesting ways :-)

I would be more than interested.  Sounds like just what the library needs :).

Jump into #koffice for an unofficial chat or mail Thomas Zander (Who
removed the project from the listing btw) I would say mail the mailing
list but as noted the project has been removed from a GS0C
consideration. There is interest in the direction so it's worth it to
explore at least.

Right spoke with them and they are very interested in the feature they
just didn't think it right for a GSoC project. They already have a non
student working on it and have a wiki page at
http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title=Collaboration :-) Basically a
lot of people in Koffice would be interested in seeing this move
forward so when you ping them use the koffice-devel mailing list.

I had a nice discussion with some of the people in #koffice about this and, as
you said, they seem very interested in adding collaborative support.

What I came out with is that: First, a change tracking system needs to be
added so there can be a place to tie the collaborative system into.  This isnt
going to be added until the freeze is lifted, so it is on hold until at least
then.

It was also mentioned that there has been some Krita development on this, and
heres a link with some more information

Cool I spoke with them as well and some were still a little under the
impression that you were applying for a GSoC so I cleared that up. I
suppose we can start a new thread on what Koffice will need to
implement that isn't already in the infinote protocol. Things that we
mentioned before like being able to discover the capabilities of the
other collaborators. I would surmise that the resolution of that would
be in the client.
