2).Send an email directly to the minister responsible for the JET portfolio. Let him know how this is affecting you. The more emails / letters we send him, the more we will MAKE HIM HAVE TO LISTEN. This is really important!!! We need to flood Mal Brough with letters- however short or long, explaing what this is doing to us and our kids, to try and make him understand and realize we are determined and persistant. 3. Vote Labour- (this is obvious). If labour get in we have been assured that this policy will reinstated to cover us for the full duration of our degree's/ courses or apprenticeships. Greens Senator Rachel Siewert, the driving force behind the Murdoch Forum, has vowed to make sure Labour makes good on their promise if they are elected.

3) Write a half page submission about the discriminatory nature of this legislation (discriminatory against women & sole parents) we are being denied the right to an education and are being forced into the lowest skilled training: thus the lowest paid (uncertain) casual and part positions in the work force. Most of these positions require us to work weekends and evenings- (ie- waitressing or bar work). This is keeping our kids in poverty. Forward this to parism@iinet.net.au.

4) If you are a student / guild or staff member at another University or College, either in W.A or interstate, we would like to help you in any way we can to get this issue attention at your campus/ college/ local area/ state. We can give you the template of what we did to get the the " Community  Forum" going (The event that caused the government to reneg and give all eligible welfare recipients 12 months of assistance regardless of course duration) at Murdoch University. We can also give you feedback on our current projects- and how we can work together to get national coverage. Please CONTACT US

5) If you are a student at Murdoch University, you can help by volunteering your time for the regular "sausage sizzle" we are having, thanks to the Guild, to raise money for 4 scholarships to help sole parents affected by the JET cut, to complete their degree. If you have half an hour or a few hours- it is all appreciated. CONTACT US

6). If you have any other skills you think may be useful, or just want to help by donating time to help out, it would all be greatly appreciated- and for our benefit! We only have till June next year until out JET runs out- we need to band togather and do something NOW. JET Action Group is a band of sole parents- so we are all in the same position; studying, raising kids on our own, and working. We are are minority group. We need to help one another. We have little time, and the outcome we get will depend on how much each of us take personal responsibility for this campaign. We have had some help from different groups along the way- even Mum's that DO recieve JET and  think this unjust- but they will only help us when they see us helping ourselves. Please get in touch.
