Subject: Cygnet Folk Festival
Hi all

Applications to perform at the Cygnet Folk Festival are due in by 31
August...so HUG's application is in! The organiser said "street
performances are always wanted" so I expect we'll probably be
accepted!! But it IS still to be confirmed. However...

One question on the application form that I couldn't answer was...

"For 2009, our festival theme will be Beyond the Borders - "Folklore
to outlaw to inlaw". Borders can be interpreted widely - physical,
spiritual, geographical, philosophical, etc, etc. Inlaws may be
outlaws!! Please indicate any way in which you might be able to
contribute to the theme:"

I said I get back to them!

So, now it's down to some serious strummin'!!

The festival date is 9 to 11 January 2009 and I said we'd be available
over the whole period! So as many as can make these dates please try
to attend as many HUG-ins as poss between now and then. The first
thing we'll need to plan is the program of songs around the theme (to
fill out 45 minutes) and get practicing! Then we can think about
costumes etc.

So...please put your thinking caps on and come up with some
suggestions for our program. Please email any songs you want included,
ideas, etc. and I'll collate and bring as a draft on Monday.

Even if by some chance we're not accepted, I think it will be a good
exercise to get ready to perform anyway...don't you???

How exciting!!

Cheers...Jennifer

Borders is easy - we do songs from all over the world.  Would that do?

Ukuleles can't be confined to borders, they are a world wide thing now, ever
since that guy from Portugal or where ever took them to Hawaii.

Vanessa.

Yes, thats a good idea, so good in fact, another group as put in the
same idea.  But, you know, it might not matter as its a big event and
they do like to have good local representation.  Good Luck to the
project.  The idea that ukulele's are everywhere seems kinda
original..to me.
